INTRODUCTORY NOWBOARDING COURSE - IDEAL FOR BEGINNERS
The beautiful alpine meadow of Hamta (@2650 mtrs above msl), is located about an hour and a half’s drive from Manali. It is a winter sports lover’s dream come true. The gentle slopes of these Alpine Meadows, spread under the gaze of the mighty Sethan Dome of the Peer Panjal Mountains, are just right for beginners. They are the perfect place to establish your first love with winter sports. For more dexterous skiing or snowboarding enthusiasts, the expansive back-country around the Slopes, with its fantastic deep powder, innumerable trails and challenging ‘off piste’ terrain, often translates into a Snowboarding experience of a lifetime.
We offer beginner's courses for Snowboarding & snow-craft, with excellent personalized instruction and perfect hospitality. We are quite certain that once you’ve participated in one of our ski / Snowboarding programs, you will fall in love with winter sports and will want to visit the beautiful snowy wonderland of Manali, time and again.
HOW TO REACH MANALI
The nearest airport serving this beautiful hill station is situated at Bhuntar. Known as Kullu Manali Airport, it is at a distance of approximately 60 from Manali.
The road instead since there are some spellbinding picturesque views en route to be enjoyed. The destination has a good connectivity by road with cities like Delhi, Ambala, Chandigarh and Shimla serving as pivotal points. A number of bus services including private services like the very comfortable Volvo ply frequently from Delhi to Manali.
The closest railway station is Chandigarh (315 km) or Pathankot (290 km). You can make your travel bookings till either of these two cities and then take a prepaid bus or a cab till Manali.

DAY 01 - PICKUP FROM OLD MANALI & ARRIVAL IN SETHAN / (STAGE 1) SNOWBOARD GEAR, STANCE, AND STRAPPING IN.
Arrival at HYA office by the morning drive from Old Manali. You’ll be met on arrival by a Himalayan Yeti Adventure representative. Transfer by surface (Pvt. 4x4 Vehicle) from the Old Manali to Sethan. Check in at your Homestay. Program orientation and briefing post lunch. Instructor will give the demonstration and Participants will practice the technique. There are several things beginner snowboarders need to know before they even set foot on snow. In the first section of our beginner’s guide to snowboarding, we will cover:
- How to properly put on your boots.
- The basic parts of a snowboard.
- How to strap in and out of a snowboard.
- Figuring out your snowboard stance.
- How to carry your snowboard.

DAY 02 - TODAY LEAVING EARLY MORNING TO JOBRI NALLAH / (STAGE 2) SKATING, GLIDING, STANDING UP, AND MOVING UPHILL.
After breakfast drive towards snowfield areas near Jobri, Instructor will give the demonstration and Participants will practice the technique. Now that you’ve got all of your gear and you know how to get in and out of your snowboard, it’s time to start learning some of the basic movements on snow. This section will cover:
- How to skate and glide.
- How to get up from the ground (while strapped in).
- How to move uphill.

DAY 03 - LEAVING EARLY MORNING TO JOBRI NALLAH / (STAGE 3) HOW TO STOP, TURN, AND RIDE YOUR SNOWBOARD.
After breakfast drive towards snowfield areas near Jobri, Instructor will give the demonstration and Participants will practice the technique. Once you’ve mastered the basics of navigating flat surfaces, it’s time to move on to the fun part: going downhill. In the final section of the beginner’s guide to snowboarding, by snowboard instructor explains:
- How to stop.
- How to turn.

DAY 04 - LEAVE EARLY MORNING STARTS TO JOBRI NALLAH / (STAGE 4) BALANCE FUNDAMENTALS.
After breakfast drive towards snowfield areas near Jobri, Instructor will give the demonstration and Participants will practice the technique. Basic balance fundamentals will help you get better at snowboarding faster. Here are some basic balance fundamentals:
- The two-footed hop.
- How to ollie.
- How to nose press and tail press.
- How to 180.

DAY 05 - LEAVE EARLY MORNING STARTS TO JOBRI NALLAH / (STAGE 5) MOVEMENTS ON A SNOWBOARD.
After breakfast drive towards snowfield areas near Jobri, Instructor will give the demonstration and Participants will practice the technique. This section will cover the four basic ways to move on a snowboard:
- Tilt
- Twist
- Pivot
- Pressure

DAY 06 - LEAVE EARLY MORNING STARTS TO JOBRI NALLAH / HALF DAY SNOWBOARDING FREE RIDE.
First half will be fun filled snowboarding day. After lunch the participants check out and go to Manali for shopping. At evening they board the bus for onwards journey to Delhi.

Insulated, waterproof boots are best. They have thick soles, rubber/leather uppers and insulation. Flip Flops/ Crocs.
Wool or synthetic socks with wicking liners promote warm, dry feet. (this item is to be bought by the clients themselves)
Layer your clothing so it can be adjusted to your activity level and the weather. Avoid cotton.
Base layer: Synthetics and wool retain warmth even when wet. Wear long underwears (top and bottem) that wicks away moisture, insulates well and dries quickly. Choose from microlight, lightweight or midweight versions based on the temperature and your activity level. A zippered top lets you adjust body heat as you stop and go. (this item is to be bought by the clients themselves, easily available in Decathlon Stores)
Upper Insulating layer: Polyester fleece makes a good insulating mid-layer since it retains heat when wet and breathes as you exercise.
Outer layer: A waterproof, breathable shell jacket and pants keep you dry and fend off wind.
Down feather jacket: - Can be used while relaxing or walking outside in the camp area.
Hat, Gloves and Accessories.
Keep your head and hands covered to prevent loss of body heat and to protect from sunburn.
A wool or synthetic hat, headband or balaclava retains heat; a wide-brimmed hat or a ball cap can shade your eyes on sunny days.
Sunglasses and sunscreen will protect you from burning UV rays which are especially intense when reflected off of snow.

Head Lamp & spare batteries.

When you decide to embark on a tour with Himalayan Yeti Adventure, it’s essential to book in advance to allow us sufficient time to prepare all necessary documents, permits, and arrangements, including hotels and transport.

- Full deposit at the time of booking to confirm the reservation
Cancellation Policy
- If you need to cancel, please note the following refund terms:
- 30+ days before the tour starts: 75% of the full payment is refunded; 25% is retained.
- 20–29 days before the tour starts: 70% of the full payment is refunded; 35% is retained.
- 7–19 days before the tour starts: 20% of the full payment is refunded; 80% is retained.
- After departure or during the tour: No refunds will be issued once the expedition or tour has started.
- Non-refundable costs: Permit fees, travel documentation charges, and similar expenses are non-refundable.
Note: Himalayan Yeti Adventure conducts all ground operations in advance upon receiving your confirmation. We make prepayments to our vendors to guarantee the promised services for your trip.
Additional Information
In the event Himalayan Yeti Adventure must cancel a tour due to insufficient participant numbers, we will issue a full refund of all payments received. However, if a tour is canceled or altered due to force majeure events such as natural disasters, strikes, civil unrest, or technical difficulties affecting transportation, we will do our best to make alternate arrangements, though liability may be limited.
